YouTube TV is rolling out a “major update” for Apple TV with better picture quality
Google-owned YouTube TV has rolled out major updates for Apple TV users, including improvements to picture quality.
A YouTube community manager recently provided an update on the latest YouTube TV developments on the YouTube TV subreddit, highlighting several ongoing updates.
According to the post, the multiview feature is now available to YouTube TV subscribers, with “improvements” coming ahead of the NFL (National Football League) season.
The company also confirmed that it is rolling out changes to transcoding, which includes increasing the bitrate for 1080p content.
“We will be testing transcoding changes, including a bitrate increase for live 1080p content, over the next few weeks. These will target devices that support the VP9 codec with high-speed internet connections. If these go well, we plan to make them permanent this summer,” YouTube said.
Additionally, the company has announced that it is working to resolve long-standing YouTube TV issues on Apple TV, such as a black screen during startup, 4K playback issues, and the need to enable HDR support.
In addition, the message mentioned that a new app update is coming to the App Store soon, which will fix the crash problem of the first generation Apple TV 4K devices.
